LJYB Sandlot Sessions
Player development is a big part of our success. In 2010, we will be running several 'Sandlot Sessions' across the different leagues. The goal is to augment the skill development that is taking place with each team. Below, are the Sandlot Sessions that have already occurred:
Pinto Sandlot Session: Pinto Fundamentals with Tim Scott (Feb. 28, 11:00am-1:00pm on Pinto Field)
First hour will focus on wide-range of fundamentals:
* infield work (step and prep, forward movement, throws to second)
* outfield (flyballs, cutoffs)
* hitting (soft-toss, wiffles, tee work)
Second hour will be sandlot baseball game focusing on fundamentals!
Bronco and Pony Sandlot Session: High School Baseball 101 with Bishop's Varsity Baseball Coach Al Gomez (Feb. 28, 2:30pm-3:30pm at Pony Bleachers)
Al Gomez will give players and parents an overview of high school baseball. This will be followed by a Q&A session to have all your questions answered.
* Pinto - Advanced Base-Running with Rick MacDonald (3/14 - 10am-11am on Pinto Field).
* Mustang - Catcher's Clinic with JP Longball's Jason Enomoto (3/14 - 3 Sessions: 10am, 11am, and 12pm on Mustang Field)
* Bronco - Advanced Infield Clinic with Roy Agbulos (3/14 - 1-3pm on Bronco Field)
* Pinto - Infield Transitions with from MLB infielder Chris Barnwell (3/21 - 10:00am-11:00am on Pinto Field. The cost is $5pp. Sandlot pick-up game will follow the clinic.)
* Mustang - Advanced Hitting Clinic with Ryan Lehr (3/21 - 10:00am-11:00am on Mustang Field. Space limited - reservation only:

* Bronco/Pony - Advanced Hitting Clinic with Ryan Lehr (3/21 - 11:00am-12:00pm on Bronco Field. Space limited - reservation only:

* Bronco/Pony - Advanced HItting with RyanLehr (4/11 - 10:00-10:30pm on Bronco Field)
* Mustang - Advanced Hitting with Ryan Lehr (4/11 - 10:45-12:45 on Mustang Field)
* Pinto - Advanced Hitting with Ryan Lehr (4/11 - 1:00-3:00pm on Pinto Field)
* Mustang - Pitching Fundamentals with Javier Pamus (4/18 1:30-2:30, $5 pp), pitching coach for LJHS, who pitched at San Jose State and with the Royals organization.
* Bronco/Pony - Pitching Fundamentals with Javier Pamus (4/18 2:30-3:30, $5 pp), pitching coach for LJHS, who pitched at San Jose State and with the Royals organization.
* Shetland, Pinto, Mustang, Bronco - "Play-Up Day". All players graduating to a higher division next year will get an overview of the key changes for the new division, as well as get a sandlot game that will allow the kids to experience the new field and rules.
