Positive Coaching Alliance Training!
posted 12/28/2011

LJYB feels strongly that better coaching makes a better experience for all involved in the league.  If you missed the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) live training session on January 24, you can still take the class online.  Please contact Tom Murphy,  , for access.

All parents planning to manage, coach, or assist are expected to have completed the course.  But, this is also a great course for parents, as it incorporates a lot of research on what defines success in youth and elite sports.

For more information, please see their website: http://www.positivecoach.org.

Legal Bats for 2012
by posted 12/15/2011

LJYB essentially has only two rules regarding bats that are eligible for play in 2012.

1) The barrel of the bat can be a maximum of 2 5/8 inches.  Anything less is fine.  This is for all divisions.

2) LJYB reserves the right to deem any bat not safe for play.  This includes any bat that has been altered, as well as older bats that have a trampoline effect that we feel create a safety issue for players on our fields.  LJYB has the right to confiscate and test any bat, as well as make a subjective opinion regarding the usage of any bat in the league.

by posted 11/20/2011

As part of the Padres Organization latest efforts to support youth baseball, all LJYB teams will be sporting authentic MLB Padres jerseys by Majestic that represent current and vintage eras going back to the 1948 PCL Padres. In all, there are 26 uniform designs, many of which incorporate the memorable brown, yellow, and orange colors that conjure up memories of Nate Colbert, Ollie Brown, Clay Kirby, Dave Winfield, Ozzie Smith and of course Tony Gwynn.
